Richard + Caitlin MSU Wedding

When I first met Caitlin, she needed some portraits and photographs of her amazing knitted creations for her Etsy site.  Coming into the studio, it was like hanging out with a best friend- she is funny, vibrant, and so talented in her craftiness.  She talked of her boyfriend, Richard, and their animals and how important they are to her.

Fast forward several months (or a year? Time is lost to me nowadays) and I received an email from Caitlin with the exciting news that she and Richard were getting married... with the sidenote that a brain tumor she was battling sped up the process a little bit.  Richard and Caitlin approach life with unmitigated humor and grace.  No tumor was going to dampen their love for each other- a gentle, caring love that radiates from them both.

The wedding day was hot (yay, June!), sunny, and we luckily planned a huge chunk of time ahead of the ceremony for their portraits.  That heat is more than memorable! We all needed a good watering and clean up after that romp around Michigan State University's campus.

Through the entire day, watching Richard and Caitlin together, I was overwhelmed by their unique bond forged in the fire.  Instead of focusing on could be wrong, they chose to celebrate and truly ENJOY their wedding day.  Richard even planned a sweet surprise wedding fish for Caitlin on their head table at the reception!
