When I received the email for Raveen and Morgan's wedding, I was ecstatic. Small wedding, traditional Hindu ceremony, with dinner and cake to follow. Intimidated by the newness of the Hindu traditions to my usual weddings, Morgan was easygoing and explained that the Hindu ceremony was shortened for them and that I couldn't possibly offend anyone unless I left my shoes on inside the ceremony venue... The ceremony itself was amazing- there are so many rituals and nuances that create an intimate and emotional setting for the union of two lovely people.
Congratulations, Raveen and Morgan!
Yes, that's FIRE! (If you know me at all.. I'm a bit of a pyro..)
Raveen and Morgan taking one of the "Seven Steps"
In the traditional American wedding ceremony, rings are exchanged as a symbol of unity. In the Hindu wedding, a necklace is presented to the bride by the groom in lieu of rings. At Raveen and Morgan's wedding, all the guests place their hands on the necklace in blessing before the groom gives it to his bride.
They create a sacred fire and toss in puffed rice as an offering for wellbeing and other blessings.
OMG I did not know your doing an Indian wedding.. soooo fun.. LOVE the pics,..
